Men will literally sit on a rock

Saved “for later”
Taken at 14:22 on 9% battery, to check the train time later. The train left at 14:31. It is now later. Camfold put me in Screenshots with 1,312 others: parking bays, Wi-Fi passwords, a recipe nobody cooked. Not with the Madrid photos. Fair. But I was there too, in a way.

Woke up at 6 a.m. for this
Taken by the one person who was up at 6 a.m. and has mentioned it at every meal since. Three days away from Home, so Camfold made us a trip, with a name and dates. Before that we were 198 photos and videos in a folder called New folder (4).

Clearest photo of Grandma ever taken
Camfold’s bad-shot check flagged me in under a second. Rude, but fair. Grandma says the blur on the left is her. So does Grandad. Experts are divided. Even if Mum had deleted me, I’d only have gone into a folder called DELETED, which is a folder, not a threat.

There were four of me
Two old backups and an AirDrop later, there were four of me, byte for byte. Mum picked one to keep; the other three went into DUPLICATES. Nobody was erased. They wait there like understudies, word perfect, never going on. And yes, she’s wearing a hat indoors. In all four.

POV: you’re the youngest
The big ones are digging a Very Important Hole, and you’re not allowed in. Nothing moved until Mum had checked the whole Coast trip: all 250 of us, including 38 photos of this hole. I said yes. The little one in stripes is still waiting to be let in.

Posted to the family group with that exact caption. Fourteen replies: three hearts, a thumbs-up from Grandad (to which one?) and a photo of someone else’s dog. Zero answers. Camfold filed me by month with the other chat downloads. It was the pink one. It’s always the pink one. Hat: still on.

Is nobody going to mention the hat?
We’re indoors. It’s a Tuesday. She’s reading a magazine with one child on her lap and another on her shoulders, and she’s wearing a hat. Luckily Camfold never uploads your photos and doesn’t need an account, so the hat stays between us and this computer. As it should.

Do not press and hold
I’m a Live Photo. The still: a calm family walk on the beach. The three seconds around it: the dog finding something dead and Dad shouting “Bruno, NO. BRUNO.” Camfold moves both halves as one, so wherever the nice walk goes, the crab goes too.

“Just a casual walk in the woods”
Dad and the toddler wore matching white shirts into a forest. Mum wore a cocktail dress into a forest. Camfold filed me under Autumn walk, which is generous, and its bad-shot check found nothing wrong with me, which is because I’m take 140.

Shot by Dad, mid-stride, from the hip, heads optional. Four metres away, Mum’s phone caught the same moment with everyone’s heads still attached. Different phones, never met. Camfold put us in the same folder, so now I have context. Dad calls me “candid”.

Black and white, for the drama
Dad found the filters on the train. Then Camfold moved me into Madrid day trip, 9 Mar 2024, someone pressed Undo, and I was back at my old path as if nothing had happened. Then I was moved again. Three trips to Madrid in one evening. The filter, sadly, can’t be undone.
